Yes. Because the rib is so fine, it is printable like cotton jersey. Screenprinters are advised to use a stretch-additive in their plastisol ink
Ring-spun is a superior cotton yarn that results in a softer, more durable fabric than open-end yarn. The ring-spun spinning process takes 5 times longer to produce, involving two extra steps than in the production of open-end yarn. The additional steps involve continuously twisting & narrowing the rope cotton fibers which results in extra softness & strength, and ultimately a superior fabric.
Preshrunk garments are identified as such in the product description. Manufacturers use a process called compaction which forces the same amount of fabric into a smaller area. Cotton is a natural fiber and will shrink. As the cotton fiber shrinks, the compaction washes out resulting in a very low shrinkage. T-Shirts are also purposely cut longer to allow for shrinkage in the oversall length.
In Canada, it is the average weight per yard multiplied by the linear width of the fabric based on available colour selection. When weighed independantly white is lighter than black. Samples of every colour are weighed together to determine the average weight. In the USA the weight is calculated by the square yard, therefore resulting in a lower ounce weight per garment. The same 10oz T-Shirt in Canada is sold as a 6oz T-Shirt in the USA. In Europe the weight is calculated in grams per square metre (gsm/m²). To prevent any misunderstandings, we list all 3 weights for the various manufacturers garments.
When fabric is processed, it is compacted (fed through rollers). Since most garments are tubular, the sides are folded over when pressed down through the compactor, resulting in a crease, causing the line. Some manufacturers quarter-turn the fabric before the cutting process, moving the crease to the side which is removed during the first wash.
